Cellulite treatment

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite treatment. The name cellulite is used for two different skin conditions, which is a bit confusing. In everyday life, the term cellulitis (cellulite) is used (an ‘orange peel skin’).

While in the medical world the term cellulitis refers to a bacterial infection of the subcutaneous tissue. This is a completely different picture, often with fever and a red warm leg.

We will discuss the first situation.

HOW DOES CELLULITE DEVELOP?

Just under the skin are fat cells. Fat cells store all the fat they can absorb from the blood and become larger and larger. The fat cells are in a clump together with connective tissue partitions around them. When the fat cells increase, these clumps bulge, while other parts of the skin cannot expand due to the connective tissue strands, which causes dents in such places and the skin looks bumpy (orange peel effect).

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES?

There are many different factors that play a role in developing cellulite. Weight gain is a common cause, but the aging process in which the elasticity of the skin is lost also plays a major role. We often see young slim women with cellulite, then the part of heredity seems to play a major role. Puberty and pregnancy due to hormonal changes can also trigger the picture. And of course smoking.
