What is an eyelid correction?
An eyelid correction is a surgical procedure in which excess skin, fat and sometimes muscle tissue is removed or redistributed from the eyelids. This can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids.

How does this procedure proceed?
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and takes an average of 30 to 60 minutes. In an upper eyelid correction, a fine incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid, after which excess skin and any fat is removed. In a lower eyelid correction, the incision can be placed just below the lash line or on the inside of the eyelid.
Recovery and aftercare
After the procedure, swelling and bruising may occur, but these usually disappear within 1 to 2 weeks. The stitches are removed after 1 week. The scars are subtle and fade over time. The end result is a fresher and rested appearance, often with a lasting effect.
Aftercare instructions:
- No intensive sports (such as running, weightlifting or contact sports) for 4 weeks.
- Do not smoke or expose yourself to passive smoking to promote wound healing.
- Avoid contact with direct sunlight and use sunscreen on the scar area after complete healing.
