Wegovy Weight Loss Medication
Wegovy Weight Loss medication contains the active substance Semaglutide, an analogue of GLP-1, a natural gut hormone that regulates hunger and satiety. Wegovy can be used as an adjunctive therapy for adult patients with obesity or overweight who have at least one health condition related to their excess weight, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or dyslipidaemia (high cholesterol).
Who is Wegovy suitable for?
- Wegovy is only intended for use in adults aged 18 years or older who are living with obesity or overweight plus at least one associated chronic health condition such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension/dyslipidemia/or both conditions together.
- The safety profile has not been established in pregnant women or in women under 18 years of age, so caution should be exercised when prescribing this drug outside the intended population.
- In addition, people with kidney disease should not use wegovy because of the possible effects on kidney function.
- Finally, anyone taking antidiabetic drugs, including insulin, should consult their doctor before starting Wegovy, as there may be potential interactions between these drugs.
Side effects Wegovy
The most common side effects of Wegovy are: headache, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea and stomach complaints.
Other possible side effects may include dizziness, sleep disturbances, anxiety or depression.
Rare side effects that are sometimes associated with the use of Wegovy include allergic reactions such as rash or hives. However, if you experience any serious side effects while using it, contact your doctor for medical advice as soon as possible.

Target group
